Stranger used my address for a home insurance policy - should I be worried?

This is a bit bizarre. A complete stranger appears to have used my address to take out a home insurance policy on another property in a nearby town with Cliftonside Insurance Services. The policy arrived this morning. I intend to ring the firm on Monday to point out that this person is fraudulently using my address but do you think I need to be worried? It seems really dodgy but I can't see why this woman has done this - am I missing an obvious scam? Any help much appreciated.

Probably just a mistake. They may have clicked on the wrong address from a list that came up when they entered the postcode.
Suggest that you send the documents back, marked ' you have the wrong address for policyholder'.
It does not affect you in anyway, the Insurers have the wrong address. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
I agree with Huckster, no scam, just an error.

Swinton by any chance?
Someone further down my street (i didnt know) moved out to a new address about 40 miles away.
I got a letter about home insurance not my name, Reading the details i could see the new address, Their occupation, Works address and numbers, More worrying. Their bank details!!!
House numbers totally different, Not even next to each other on the keyboard.
They were shocked when i phoned them to say i have all their personal details.
And did wonder why they had not received their paperwork.
Dropped it into the local Swintons and heard nothing more.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Thanks for the reassurance. It's not anyone with a similar house number as I know their names, but I suppose someone up the other end of the street could have scrolled a long way past their own number in error. Not Swinton - Cliftonside (a far-away Bristol office & no branches) and no contact details for the rightful recipient other than my address and the address of the buy-to-let property insured, so I think I'll just have to ring the insurers on Monday and see what they say.
Thanks again.0
