Hi,
Our little 7 month old Son is Milk intolerance (well the protein in the milk) so there is a huge list of things he cannot have.
So we are going to make our own bread for him, we got a bread machine so will be using that.
He can have soya spread (butter) so if that needs to go in it can.
Any help would be great, even if i can put maybe banana in too?

Bread doesn't have milk in it.
Flour- yeast - salt - water.
500g flour
350g water
7g yeast
7g salt
Is all you need. Using the dough setting, let it run and tip it into a loaf tin, leave to rise and bake at 220 for about 30 mins, or until when tipped out, the bottom sounds hollow when you knock it.
The oven has to be to temp before the bread goes in.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
I'm guessing you've got a breadmaker where all the recipes have skimmed milk powder in them? Mine's like that - utterly unnecessary! Just put water in, leave out the milk powder and swap the butter for vegetable oil - the bread comes out just as niceIf you lend someone £20 and never see them again, it was probably £20 well spent...0

Bread can be as simple as flour, yeast and water, though I prefer the taste with a bit of salt too. Then you can add all sorts of things - some form of fat/oil is common, different grains, herbs... I have never tried banana but can't think why not!
Does your son have a problem with all milk or just cow milk? I had to have goat milk for a few years. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

The one I use my in breadmaker that gives a superb loaf is:
Sugar - one and a half tablespoons.
Salt - One level teaspoon
Olive Oil - One and a half tablespoons.
Warm water - @290ml - mix the previous together before adding -
Bread flour - 400g. I often use 350g white and 50g Spelt - Which gives a superb taste and texture. You can use varying proportions of Spelt but more than 100g and it can rise too far for my machine.
Yeast - one to one and a half teaspoons. I find you need a bit more in colder weather and less just now but my kitchen tends to be freezing in winter.
Baking times - use settings for a one and a half pound loaf and medium crust. you can pause and add seeds/fruit etc at different stages of the process and use runny honey instead of the sugar.0 -
My DDs both have had diary intolerance and I replaced the milk powder with soya flour, you wouldn't know if you didn't know. It gives the same result as the milk! I use a breadmaker and bake in the oven, it's fine both ways. Hope that helps Cheers Lyn.0

Quickly posting from my phone, my bread maker has a milk free recipe in the booklet. If yours has one too, - probably best to try that first as it will have the right proportions for your machine.
I'll come back with recipes from the pc later as its easier from there!0 -
