Podcast option disappeared from itunes

Hi,

I'm hoping someone might be able to advise me.

I don't seem to have the podcast option in my itunes now and when I click on the advance button along the top, the podcast options are shaded out and I can't click on them.

Can someone offer any ideas on how to fix this?

    Does this happen only when you have an iPod-type device connected, or is it independent of connected devices?

    Check two places:

    Edit > Preferences > General - is Podcasts ticked?
    Edit > Preferences > Parental - is Podcases disabled?
    How do I add a signature?

    It's all the time.

    I just went to preferences and the podcast (and radio) box is unticked but, again, shaded so I can't tick it.

    Weird!

    I can't see a disabled option under preferences either.

    Also, I'm using the latest iTunes on a MacBook (don't know if that matters!)
