My cat is over grooming herself.

My vet told me this week that it has been a bad summer for cats as they have shed their coats extra times due to the weather, and some cats, particularly indoor cats, are overgrooming to get rid of the furYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0

You may want to try something like Feliway if you think it could be stress related.
Alternatively, the new cats in the area, were they accompanied by new humans too? Could a neighbour be feeding her something she's allergic to? It could be worth popping a little tag on her collar (I'd try to make it something obvious e.g. one with a 'health' type symbol on it like these - http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41JSN30w3zL._SX342_.jpg) with a little printed note "Please don't feed me - I have allergies" or similar. Won't stop her climbing in cat flaps snaffling herself a free meal but if someone's purposely putting food out, e.g. new neighbour with a fondness for her, it may help.0 -
Hi everyone.
Thanks for the help.
I took her to the vets, who said that she has a flea allergy. He recommended Advantage spot on, and Acclaim for the house (bought from VetUK for cheaper than the vets) and also a feliway plug in, which i have plugged in.
She is doing MUCH better now. I have noticed considerable less fleas on her, and the house (although i am confused as to why regular frontline hasnt seemed to work), and she is much happier0 -
If you do a search, you'll find that lots of cats have had problems with fleas even though they've been treated with Frontline for years. It seems the fleas are becoming resistant to it. We had the problem with our cat last Christmas. Swapped to something else (began with A, sorry can't remember which one there are a couple) which worked. Sadly Merlin is no longer with us.Make £2025 in 2025

So pleased to hear that. :j Apparently there is resistance to Frontline in the flea population.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
