Nothing to do with shopping/coupons etc but I don't know where to ask this! Can someone please tell me why the Olympic announcements are made FIRST in French and then in English? I was confused when watching the opening ceremony but now they are doing it for the event announcements.

Because French is the official language of the IOC. It was founded in France in 1894, so I guess they got to make the rules.:)

L**g*n finally had the poster up today so was able to use a 3/20 S's CS. My best coupon shop yet, got £79 down to £38...not as big a saving as some of the elite crew but for me, who is shy about handing over coupons it was a triumph:rotfl:

Also found the 1p cake mix, the young SA just put them straight through...didn't even bat an eyelid. thanks OP. Only took 4 though...maybe I still need to work on growing them b*lls :p

    :T:T:T:T
Well done, not a thing wrong with those totals:D L**gan SAs must be less bothered than C'avon ones...had quite a few 1p/4p troutings there (but did get many many more items through ss tills)

teenagers go through all sorts of stages ..... i know brought 3 of them up on me own but the main thing is be there for them even when you dont agree with them , as long as they know you are there and can talk to anytime about anything thats the important thing ...... you will get stressed with them and angry at times ...but you know they are good kids really and what you have told them and the way you have brought them up will shine through in the end ...... and friends come and go at that age all the best

Thank you :) I really do hope they go soon! I hate thinking they are using my son but he doesn't see it or want to take my advise. He's my first of 3 so a learning curve for me

Because French is the official Olympic language. Announcements are always in French first and host country's language next.

Thanks for the quick answer - I knew one of you brilliant folks would know the reason.

I'm not 'sporty' at all so a lot of the background stuff goes over my head. BUT, this has been annoying the Hell out of me - and the reason has irritated me even more as I thought the Olympics originated in Greece and, so far as I knew, have sweet fanny adams to do with France ! Trust the Franch to get in on the act. (apologies in advance if my anti French sentiments offend anyone).

HI. Not posted for a while due to working away.i have been lurking for the last week or so.got a pp back today for pork ,so again today went for some more using a £6.56 pp, sa looked at it ,looked at me ,looked at it again :eek:and said I will have to check this pp .People behind me in the queue grunting and muttering .Off she goes comes back no pp someone else has to check, minutes pass ,my face is glowing red with embarassment:mad:.at long last another supervisor returns "its a good one its OK":T.The sa then apologises and goes on to tell me that Tesco are CLAMPING down on pps due to misuse,I for one hope that these people who have no excuse for this fraudulent behaviour other than personal GREED get what they deserve before a good thing is again spoiled for everyone .Thanks

It would also help if all T's staff were correctly trained, today I had a SA hand me back the receipt unmarked after taking a PP, I said to her she needed to sign the receipt, yesterday the SA told me, "theres a receipt in here" and handed it back to me, I always fold my PP's with the receipt inside, I agree there is no excuse for greed/fraud but I can see where folks would be tempted.

Thanks I was going to order the towels as well - are they ok for the beach?
But someone else has reported the backpacks as also being carp so better go & womble some more receipts (still haven't found a juicy pampers one) and get something better - trouble is I want 2 of

I ordered the games set which is reasonable. Have also ordered the picnic set and backpack

Even it is carp, at least it didnt cost anything:money:
