Car park operators accused of ripping off motorists following three-fold rise in charges
Britain’s biggest car park operator NCP was accused last night of Olympic ‘profiteering’ and ripping-off motorists as it hiked charges at its central London sites up to three-fold for the duration of the games.
Visitors and tourists to the capital from around the UK and abroad are being hit with parking ticket prices ramped up by an ‘average’ of 40 per cent at more than a third of its car parks in the capital in the run up to and during the Olympics, admitted NCP which runs more than half of central London spaces.
The AA said the massive parking hikes were a ‘rip-off’ that ‘smacked of profiteering’, had no transport justification, and ‘deserve an Olympic gold for sheer gall.’
