High Valued Items for Contents Insurance

Hi There

I am struggling to find any sites that will support the insurance for an engagement ring worth over 10,000 GBP. I live in a flat which has buildings insurance and do not currently take out contents insurance as we have security concierge etc.

I am in the process of taking out contents insurance and would like to list the engagement ring but no one will insure

Any assistance warmly appreciated
Hamish

Why does a concierge make any difference to contents insurance.

Fire, flood, accidental damage, etc. etc. It really is necessary if you live in a flat and say you flood downstairs, or there is a fire. The concierge wouldnt be able to stop any of that before damage was caused.

Look into it, they may add on the ring then.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

If you have unusual insurance requirements, it's often a good idea to try going through a broker.

Plenty of companies out there will insure it with home contents. Whether the premium is reasonable would be a different matter.

Google found several straight away. One said its tailored for high value fine arts and jewellery, Items valueing £100k +

I guess thats the sort of place famous people use. But there are plenty of others.

If your still not concerned about the rest of your items or this item is totally non-representative of your normal household items then jewellery insurance may be better for you.

You can probably get it as unnamed with a few of the mid net worth policies, from memory Axa have up to £12k unnamed, Hiscox 505 is £15,000 for unnamed . Alternatively most of the premium/ private offerings aimed at the mass affluent would be able to cover it as a named item.

I have a few specific 'things' itemised on my home insurance with Direct Line. Contents only, seems to be no problem. Call them and ask.
