Taking valuables abroad!!

Hi everyone,
I don't know how typical this situation is, but I'm working abroad for a few months and the company are booking my flights and insurance. They said that they can only cover single items for up to £250, but as I'm taking my Mac and camera, I need cover for up to £1500...where do I start with this? I don't have household insurance because I haven't had a long term residence...
Any advice or pointers would be fantastic.
Thanks,
Ed

Google gadget insurance. There are a number of companies who will cover on a worldwide basis. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0

There are ten top gadget insurance on this link:http://www.money.co.uk/gadget-insurance.htm.
I think you can make your own choice0 -
I find it hard to believe that people don't have contents insurance.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

I think it has been estimated that at least 30% of households don't have Contents Insurance. The comments I post are personal opinion. TBH I am surprised the no contents insurance is as low as 30%
Whilst you can get gadget insurance most policies arent great and are expensive. Certainly look at getting contents and it may work out better for you.
Alternatively, who is "the company"? For the sake of £1,500 I would imagine the company would just give you personal guarantees rather than wasting a lot of time and effort finding an insurance policy. Companies typically buy travel insurance for their employees much more for the £5m of PL and Medical Expenses cover with the access to the helpline rather than covering the (in company terms) low value aspects such as baggage or cancelled flights etc0
