I've recently purchased the Walnut gloss from B&Q, was on offer recently on one of their 20% off days..has great reviews & looks a lot more expensive than it is....
hope this helps..0 -
we used this company for our bedrooms
the link below is for a 10mm oak v groove 10 a sq mtr - if you do go laminate the v groove actually makes it look more wood like/classy

having just relaid a laminate floor I would fully recommend Ikea flooring. Very very simple to fit, looks great, isn't that expensive and is hardwearing. They have the flooring on show in the display areas of the store so you can see how it looks when down and how hardwareing it is. I would also recommend the Wickes fibreboard underlay. It's 5mm thick, very easy to lay, cuts witha stanley knife and 1 pack (20 boards) covers approx 10 sq. m. Plus it's currently 2 packs for £40.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

I was in B&Q today as I believe they’re having a 20% off sale next week. I had a look at their own Beveloc laminate as well as the Quick Step brand. I don’t like the cheaper of the two types of Quick Step so it’s going to be between the following two products:

My question is, is Quick Step worth the extra £4.80 per square metre over the Beveloc product (normally £6, reducing to £4.80 in the 20% off sale)?
Also, does the 10-times more scratch-proof claim from Quick Step hold any truth or would it be just as hard-wearing as the Beveloc product?0 -
Here's my story. Make of it what you will.
I'd thought about putting laminate down but was put off by the following:
- house would be colder as less effective insulator than carpet
- noise. previous experience, even with best underfelt, was that noise from upstairs was a nightmare
I decided to ask some manufacturers how to solve the problems. They confirmed its no problem to to put down 'proper' underlay (12mm wool and granulated rubber) but NOT foam under laminate provided the laminate is more than 8mm thick. If less than 8mm then you have to put a thin sheet of ply down to help with its movement at the joints - its weak spots.
I bought a pallet load of end of range 7mm thick laminate for our 4 bed house along with about 8 rolls of the dogs doo dahs underlay direct from its manufacturer in liverpool. See previous posts about who.
You fit the underlay rubber side down and fit it TIGHT to the wall. This minimises gaps and potential draughts. I then laid down the 4mm ply and fitted the laminate. BTW you fit the underlay at right angles to the long joins on the floor to minimise weak spots.
Result? Totally toastie, easy to maintain, extremely quiet (my 8 yr old loves dancing in her bedroom with her friends above the sittting room), it's as quiet as the grave and it has a little 'give' when you walk on it. Give isn't the right word really its just 'softer'. You can lie on it without being cold!
I've even laid the underlay under an engineered oak floor in our hallway!
Everyone told me it wasn't possible but... All together now, "Always look on the bright side of life..." :whistle:0 -
Has any one used the discount flooring depot website? I'm interested in buying some products from them for the bedroom about 18m2.
I can't find out much about them online i think they're a new company but i'd like to hear from anyone who has ordered on what their experience of using them was like because their prices seem to good for their Balterio and they're offering free shipping at least from what i can see?0 -

The post 6 in this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4086441 gives quite good review on this company....I was actually looking for some decent laminate floor too and was thinking of getting Balterio Tradition Elegance Honey Oak http://www.discountflooringdepot.co.uk/balterio-tradition-elegant-honey-oak-662-9mm-laminate-flooring-range-p91, so I also came across Discount Flooring depot, they seem to have better prices than I could get from other websites...so, I might eventually be ordering from them....0
