    enjoy you'll love it
Chang Mai is great loads to do, can you stay longer? though the elephants are fantastic the market up there is just the right size for a good wander round.Malaysia is superb, much prefer it to Phuket but that's a personal preference.

aparenetly the Asia hotel in bangkok is in the best possition, my sister has a house on one of the islands out there are raves about the loca of this hotel, it's only a 3 star so nothing to right home about but it's all about location, location, location when it comes to this place

I have always wanted to stay in the one of the Banyan tree hotels, have a search for them and hopefully you will see how lovely they are

when it comes to booking the hotels do it direct, it's far cheaper, I would have a look at the usual tour operators such as kuoni to see the hotels they have on offer and they search for them on line, booking them direct, also check out tripadvisor for the recommendations.

I Love thailand, my fav place in the whole world. Went there for my 40th:eek: a few years ago.

We flew emeriates uk to dubai and thai airways dubai to bangkok. We also took an internal flight from Bkk to Krabi with thai airways. Booked via ebokers except the internal flights booked via thai airways web site.
Very happy with all our flights.

www.sawadee.com is a useful web site, we booked 2 nights at the
royal river hotel bangkok with them. We we 2 couples travelling and paid for 2 rooms and got a free upgrade to a suite! it was fab:j

Took the train to Kanchanaburi..bridge over the river kwai area etc, If you are going there let me know and I can give you some info.

We went to Koh Lanta (via Krabi) in the south, Phuket to busy for me and stayed at the sri lanta hotel, again fab place.

You will have a fab time some of the nicest people around, beautiful country and totally different from anywhere else.

I have loads of links on my computer at home..this is me at work..working!!! I will find the best ones and post later

    Any questions let me know

    Jersey 200,

Airlines for your international routes would be Emirates who fly UK - Dubai - HKG - Bangkok // then you can fly back to UK (via Dubai again) from Bangkok again, or possibly KL (I think you are taking in too much in your time frame - if 10-14 days in Phuket is too much - why not split it with Krabi - 2 hours drive away, and very different in feel (and quieter!)).

If this is your holiday of a lifetime, can I urge you, irrespective of what some might say, to contact a couple of Far East Specialists to offer you advice, and prepare some prices, and itinerary for you. Try Travelbag, or Trailfinders or Tropical Locations, until you feel comfortable with someone (yes I do work in travel, and no i've told anyone who my company is - but it's not one of those companies!!). If you want, then try DIY'ing it, but I wouldn't - reason being,

    1) Your stays are so short, and your itinerary so specific, if you book your own 'DIY' you are likely at some point, for a low-cost carrier to mess up your trip. For example - you stay 1 night in Chiang Mai. That's lost if your flights are delayed - all you will see is the hotel and the airport. If you book a tailor-made package, you will most likely fly Thai or Bangkok Air internally, and will automatically booked onto the next flight if something happen. It'll also be quicker. And dare I say it - CHEAPER!

    2) My strong tip is to extend your stay in Dubai, Bangkok, Hong Kong & Chiang Mai by one night each. If you can't extend your overall trip, cut back from Phuket. Again - reason being you will regret it when you are there and feel rushed.

    3) Dubai - You are going to go to great beaches in Thailand - so why not skip the 'manmade' Jumeirah Beach, and stay in the Desert for something completely different.

    4) My tips for hotels (good value (my opinion - obviously difficult to say without knowing your budget!), good facilities and location, if you prefer smaller, intimate places I can recommend lots)

Dubai - Al Maha Desert Resort (for above reasons!)
Bangkok - The Landmark, or if you want riverfront, the Shangri-La is great. I have issues with the Asia Hotel, but I think they still have the 'transgender' dance show every evening ;)
Chiang Mai - So many, and cheap. Try the D2, good location.
Hong Kong - Harbour Plaza HK - great value, great hotel, make sure you get a Harbour View Room - stunning for the price.
Phuket - Close to lots of local action, and on a great beach? Kata Thani Beach Wing (5*) but lots of facilities. The Chedi in Phuket is very good value (for a reason as - not as high standard as other Chedi's but it's on the best semi-private beach in Phuket).

If these are beyond your budget, or too big hotels, i'll advise some more!
