Any meter that has been installed in the last few years requires that the value displayed on the meter screen (1/2, D/N) must be the same as used in the industry data flows (to remove confusion) if they are not the meter must be labelled accordingly i.e. if the meter had A & B and the flows had 1 & 2 the meter should have a label saying A = 1 & B =2.

yes spiro, you would think that would be an obvious solution from day one on meter installation and a lot do have a label affixed to the side, but most of them dont. Anyone whos got a meter like that with no indicators, its a good idea to mark the meter themselves to avoid meter readers messing it up. I think the kettle test is good but it needs more than one boil to get through a kwhr, what about a 10 min shower if its an electric one, at 7-9 thousand watts would soon advance a digit

So how do people still use any of the digital display Iskrameco meters and not label them? They are set up as if they use the mapping details from a D0313.

  • The eco 7 meter which is the most popular one they are fitting now and the last few years is made by Ampy. It defaults to show the rate in progress. No instructions at all on the meter. A few of us write rate 1 =day by the meter for future meter readers etc because they are putting it into the night rate. Our handheld fields are labeled 1 = R2/ low which is confusing so as soon as they see a 1 on a meter it gos into the night/low and the suppliers actually bill the day reads at the cheap night rate. I ve seen many B.G. bills over the years billed like this. The customer is very happy

Have you got a link to anything official about this?

If they have to match the register at data level to the physical metet there would be no need for a label so not sure how that would occur?

There are a lot of labels out there and readers often don't check...yellow stickers are common in the YELG and probably NEEG GSP's as sacsquacco probably sees as the old MOP did this is a lot.

    BSCP514 2.3.2 e (http://www.elexon.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/bscp514_v24.0.pdf) and I quote:

When installing a NHH multi-register Meter, or when attending the site to carry out significant4 work on such a Meter that would require re-registration of the Metering System, the MOA shall ensure that the registers of the metering asset are clearly identified5 and that the Meter Register IDs (J0010) to be used in all relevant data flows clearly identify the registers on the metering asset to be read. (e.g. "L", "N", "R1", "R2", etc.).

    footnote 5 -
Where the identifier cannot be uniquely identified by a 2-character Meter Register ID (e.g. "!!! 3" ), a label shall be applied to, or immediately adjacent to, the Meter that shows the display sequence with the equivalent Meter Register ID for each register (e.g. "!!! 2 – Reg ID = 02" etc.). For two-rate Key Meters only, the only permitted Meter Register IDs are " 1", "1 ", "01" or "R1" and " 2", "2 ", "02" or "R2". (When installing or attending the site to carry out significant work requiring re-registration).
