Can I have two personal paypal accounts?

Options
Hi everyone.

I'm finding limited information about this online, but basically I have a personal paypal account that I use for buying from ebay etc, sending money to family or to buy goods, and occasionally receive from family as well.

I would like to have a seperate account for putting money from online surveys etc in, it's easy for them to get spent in my other account. I do have a savings account with the same bank as my current account, though as it's a savings account it has no debit card to link up to. Can I open a personal paypal account and link it to the savings account?

Or if not, is there an alternative to Paypal that is just as easy to use?

Many thanks.

Unfortunately you are only allowed one of each type (personal, micropayments, premier/business) in your personal name.

I agree, it's very frustrating. What I would like is to be able to choose whether to pay with a balance or pay with a card/other funding source.

Open a Premier one for your eBay selling and keep the personal one for other sources, maybe?

Alternatives are a bit thin on the ground.

To sell on eBay you need Paypal, you can't get by without it (and most buyers want to use it anyway, and many sellers don't know about alternative electronic systems unless they have credit card accounts).

If your survey company pays via Paypal, they might have options to change the way you are paid; I don't know offhand as although I have a couple of accounts I never seem to be in the target markets, mainly because I don't drive, am not the person who pays for most of the groceries at home and don't use my mobile phone an awful lot. For the political survey sites I gave up answering because I was just clicking random buttons.

To be honest the alternatives are not given much publicity and they don't have dispute systems to speak of, meaning that buyers either don't know about them or don't want to use them.

My solution in my own accounts is just to treat my Paypal balance as liquid funds. I've stopped trying to conserve the balance for eBay purchases and use it quite regularly e.g. to order pizza or pay my Spotify subs.

Thanks for the reply, to be honest I rarely sell on ebay so would be a bit reluctant to get a premier account as there are fee's to pay for that I believe?

    What's a micropayment account?

It obviously isn't what was asked but just in case you dodn't know, you can add the savings account to Paypal (you can add several accounts) and then withdraw the amount paid to that one without leaving it in Paypal.

How do the survey sites send money into Paypal? If they send as personal/gift payments then there would still be no fees to pay on the transfers. I would have thought that would be how you would be paid.

Unfortunately if you want more than one account you might have to consider having a Premier account :(. If you don't sell too often and the ^^^ above is true, then there might not be that many fees to pay.

I would just withdraw the survey money to the savings account, but I only ever get small increments such as £3, minimum amount to withdraw is £6. By the time I have £6 survey rewards it's gotten mixed up with other money (and likely spent :( )
