Pre-authorisation hotel booking

is this why they say use credit cards for hotels? Because in effect you have that pre-authorisation money tied up until it falls off
Also how long did it take for yours to drop off?0 -
I get this all the time, it's standard practice. Do not worry, you will only pay £70 not a penny more unless you used the mini bar.... :-PCan I find out my credit score? You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)0

Yes, I've stayed in a hotel that pre-authorised the room cost plus £50 on top for anything charged to the room using a debit card, whereas if I'd paid by credit card it would have just been a pre-authorisation of a pound I believe.0 -

See thats what i dont get, as i got the £1 thing appear and fall off a few days later, but also a pre-authorisation of £70 thats still there0 -
It could be why. Though the effect could be the same, it's much easier to have "available credit" used rather than your own money tied up.is this why they say use credit cards for hotels? Because in effect you have that pre-authorisation money tied up until it falls off

The authorisation dropped seven days after I first checked in. The final charge had been on my statement for about four days by the time the authorisation dropped off. This is everybody's fault but mine.0
