    The fee sounds ok

The refund should be roughly pro rata, so, as it's over a month, you could say a maximum of two months, so I'd expect to be getting between £600, to £650, less the £45. so, around a minimum of £550 back, to over £600.

You're stuck though, as if they won't refund correctly, you're going to have to cancel, re-insure elsewhere, write a letter of complaint to RCIB, then if they won't refund more, refer the complaint to the FOS, then wait.

It should be pro-rata plus £45 if you cancel within 14 days of receiving the policy document.

If you have only just got the paper work, won't it count as 14 days of receiving the policy. What are the dates on the paperwork?

Yes, that's the line I need to use. Thank you rs65 for linking to their own terms and conditions which state that I am only going to be charged pro-rata +£45 as I only received the paperwork last week. Letter dated 20/07/12. This letter was only sent out after someone rang me asking for the paperwork to be returned but I hadn't received any at that stage. And so the letter states that they are "stiil waiting urgentlyfor the signed documents".

That call, I am guessing should be recorded so there is some record of me not receiving documents before that. I had previously (early June)called them asking for the certificate, as I need it for work. At that point they emailed me a cover note but no documents came until last week.

Thanks for your input, I now feel confident to contact them and fight my corner. Hopefully, thanks to all of you, I will be back with a positive update.
