Which paint for stone lintle and door surround

Currently planing for some maintenance to the front of the house. We have big stone lintels and surrounds on the front door (old victorian terrace) and we want to change the colour. They are currently painted in black gloss and we want to change to cream.

What paint should we be using, and is it sufficienbt to sand the current paintwork before repainting or should we try and get back to the original stone.

I would prefer to cut it back to original stone, can't wack it, ;)

But if you decide to continue with paint, do the prep and carry on with gloss, little point in going with masonary paint if it's glossed already.

I you ndo decide to clean it back it will be likely that the 1st layers of paint have got well into the stone, I think you would be looking at sandblasting, or the like, to remove it.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
