Mini bmw

Options
I brought my mini cooper 2009 in february for just over £11,000. In june it spluttered and then cut out completely, it could not be restarted by the bmw technician that came to see it so was recovered. In past 3 weeks i have driven my car a total of 4 days and it has broken down twice. The edl and camshaft sensor have been replaced which has not solved the problem. It just loses all power and dies. The dealership said it was dirty fuel and since then are not keeping me informed and they have now had the car 9 days without updating me further. No one seems to know what is wrong and what my options are. Legally where do i stand? Can i have a like for like replacement if they can not fix the problem? Pls help as getting nowhere and all dealership have told me is that i can have a refund of £8500!!!!

it's a used car mate - what warranty did you take out on it any extended waranty?

As a long term BMW owner i can tell you that their extended warranty is worth the price - they are great cars, but when they go wrong the costs are horrific.

Not sure what you mean by legal position - but to be honest if you really did buy it in 2009 for £11k and they are now offering you £8500 for it - i'd snatch their hands off

actually - i'm not sure if this is some sort of joke post?

I read it that the OP bought their 2009mini in Feb this year for £11000 and now it's goosed. I certainly wouldn't be happy to accept £8,500 for it 5 months later.

oh i see - it's a 2009 model, bought in feb - you are right, yes - that makes more sense.

as opposed to a mini cooper bought in feb 2009 - in which case it would have been the slowest depreciating car in the world.

anyway - i think the OP needs to figure out what is wrong with it - did he/ she buy it from a main dealer? - i'd imagine not or it would still be under warranty - they probably need to bite the bullet and take it to a main dealer though and get ready for the £110 / hr + VAT labour rates but i wouldn't trust any others to actually fix it!

proper diagnostics with either manufacturers or bosch system will tell if its got a electrical problem , if the fuel is incorect ie diesel in a petrol or vice versa then a fuel system flush and filter change may help .
where is the car at the car sales or a garage and where did you buy it main dealer or car sales ?

A phone call to the manager explaining your problems, They have failed to fix the same fault several times. Record the call to see what he says.

Ideally you want to take it back have a curtesy car and for them not to call you until its fixed for free.

Unless you have misfuelled it? Then you need to pay to put that right.

Whatever the case, Dont start shouting off and making silly threats.

Gathering your facts quietly and calmly then slapping them with a letter before action. Explaining the issues. What you want done or in 14 days you are filing a for a FULL refund + costs to the small claims.

Did you buy this from a BMW dealer? If so I am amazed they haven't been able to either diagnose or fix this properly.
Either way, at that money and the time you have owned it I would be pushing the trader to fix to your satisfaction, your not going to settle for cash.
