Evening all,
I wonder if anyone with any knowledge could please give me some advice..
I have seen on eBay a 55 reg Peugeot 206 buy it now £1750 or best offer, the reason for being cheap is it is cat d registered, now I have no clue as to what this REALLY means!!! If, i Put it in to comparison, I currently have an 05 plate 206. Mine is very basic, no central locking 3 doors etc... But the same dealer who I bought my car from is willing to buy it back from me for £1800 which includes the minor dent in the door that I made:eek::eek::eek:.
Is this eBay price too cheap? And what should I look out for?
Many thanks in advance

A cat c / d is a car that has been involved in an accident and has sustained enough damage to warrent the insurers declairing it being beyond economical repair.
If you have the time and cash then you could do the repairs to it and put it back on the road or use it as a donor car to repair yours. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
Maybe something like this??
Or
Cat D is not a big issue, How was it repaired is the issue.
Slapping a new bumper over a crushed and bent front end will look nice from the outside.
Not so nice if you have an accident, And your crumple zones are already crumpled.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
If your in the mood for a change, shop around. Please don't swap your trusted but basic beast for a moderately better car with an unknown history just to move up "half a plate".0

Thank you everyone for replies, the seller has already repaired the car and has since been mot'd, unsure if this makes a difference?.
I love "my beast" but I desperately need 5 doors, now the baby has discovered temper tantrums:eek::eek:0 -
the above examples wont be d's they will be c's or at worst b's
cat d is mainly cosmetic or the hire car charges would push the bill up higher than the car value so they pay out to stop the hire charges.. ask if he has photos of the car before fixing..Sealed pot challenger # 10

my dads fiesta was written off cat D because it needed a new wing and headlamp and bumper the rest was perfectly fine and low impact meant no structural parts affected and was assessed as cosmetic, repairable but insurer decided uneconomical to repair.0

The top picture was a Cat D. Not sure on the bottom one though.
And an MOT means nothing. The may not be able to see the damage hidden behind a new bumper skin and missing airbags etc.
Just points out that if you dont know what your looking at then get someone who does.
Would you know if the bumper had been fitted correctly with a new crash bar or just had some brackets welded on to support it.
Before and after photo's would be good but not many do. Receipts for parts replaced would be more likely.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
