I got home from work today to discover a letter from Fredrickson international Ltd demanding payment of £51.57. For what i thought?
Turns out it is from carphone warehouse regarding a talk talk home phone service we had over 1 and a half years ago!
We were with talk talk briefly in 2005 but i cancelled the service due to poor customer service and bills which were not much cheaper than BT.
I changed provider to primus telecom and requested a final bill from talk talk.
I got a final bill covering a period of about 2 weeks for which they were wanting to charge me £51.57! I contacted them and they told me that the bill was wrong and contained charges but they and i were unclear what the charges were for. I was informed that it was going to be investigated and i would receive a new bill in due course. I contacted them on two occasions to be told they would contact me. Not hearing anything and loosing the will to live after being on hold for eternity I assumed it had been settled and have had no further correspondence for well over a year.
However my husband had just phoned them regarding the letter we received today to recover the 'debt'. He was on hold for 25 mins, put through to 3 departments and refused an answer as to why it had taken a year and a half for any correspondance. He was told that it was talk talk who 'terminated our account'!!!!!!! Then he was argued with when asked to speak to a customer services manager, his request was refused and he was cut off after being told he was being placed on hold.
I am furious!
Funnily enough i had kept all correspondance relating to the matter untill January when i had a clear out. Typical! I now have nothing.
What are our rights on this? Surely after 1.5 years they cant just demand money from old customers? We didnt even owe it to them in the first place!:mad:
