Trying to cancel pp with black horse HELP

I have a loan with Black horse finance which i have had since 2004, when i took out the loan i was told i had 30 days to cancel my pp which made me think that if i missed that deadline i couldnt cancel in the future. I have recently tried to cancel and have been told it will put my payments up, one reason they gave me was because when i was out of work i fell behind on my payments and even though i have payed the arrears they have said i have got late payment charges added on to the end of the loan and because i am cancelling my pp it will be added on to my payments, the other reason is that Black horse pay your pp in advance and because im cancelling i owe them the money.
Has anyone ever experienced or heard of this and if so i would really appreciate your help.
Thanks
