What's better, low energy bulb or fluorescent strip?

Does anyone know the answer to this in terms of cost?

I Have a strip light in my kitchen and a lamp with a low energy bulb in the lounge.

Which one would be most cost effective to leave on in the evening?

Also, if both are the same wattage (say 60w) does that mean they cost the same to run or does this bear no relation to the cost as it's about output rather than input?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

A low energy bulb is a flourescent light. The wattage rating is the amount of power it uses, so a 40W will cost twice as much to run as a 20W.

i still use a flourescent light in the kitchen, and the utility room. maybe old fashioned now but very cost effective. and the amount of light given off is very good.
    Get some gorm.
