Cancelling Lovefilm DVD Trial

I'd swear when I had some DVDs at home and I went to cancel it gave you the option of just clicking a button. Now when I have no DVDs it wants me to call customer services to confirm my cancellation. Is there anyway around this? Apologies if in the wrong forum

Clear your rental list.
return dvds in good time.
when received back - then cancel after 10pm with acouple of days to spare.
They are a tricky lot when you try and cancel.
If they charge you for any reason, cancel anyway and report it to your credit card company. Keep proof of cancellation or how you tried to cancel to send.
Both times they charged, the credit card refunded the money.0 -
i cancelled my account, and had sent the dvds back but they still charged me for the next month, but fortunatley i never payed for it, because my card has expired now!0

Hmm yeah.. I called them and said I was sending the dvds back and wanted to cancel.. they said fine, It would be cancelled when they recieved them. I was pretty firm about NOT being charged.. and they said noo nooo you wont be charged.
So I gave it two *mornings* since I posted them back.. then called again to double check the cancellation, they said yep.. all sorted.
THEN... they blimmin well charged me!
I emailed them about it.. they said they were sorry etc, but said they would not return my money and that as I had (now) paid for another month I could have more discs..

I've just come to the end of a 3 month free trial, their service is good but i'm not watching enough to keep it on. I've been a past customer and had no problem cancelling but this time is a different story!!!
You must cancel the agreement with your bank or credit card, dont leave it to them to withdraw payment request.
They have a hard core sales team on the number you are asked to call. It has changed massively since i was a customer at screen select. (Lovefilm took them over)
I recommened the trial in january based on previous experience, but i wouldn't recommend it again.
I'm having troubles with them, they are saying they havent recieved my 2 returned DVDs.
V frustrating.... good luck.0 -
I did the three months free trial with them, and decided to keep on anyway because there's new films I want to see... but, I must say that sending my dvds back all through the free trial, they were received the next day without fail. Then just as my free trial drew to a close... it took four full days for the dvds to arrive! Since then, back to the same old regularity. It's a scandal, but if you really want to avoid paying, like people have advised, send dvds back in good time, clear your rentals list, and complain like hell if they don't cancel it for you.0

i always send two seperate emails stating that i have called them 3 times and had no luck getting through, so wish them to cancel it for me.
So far, so good.
I do duggest that you a)clear all dvds off your list, b) return your dvds at LEAST 7 days before your renewal date (getting proof of postage from the P.O. if you feel like a bit of extra security), then doing the above email technique.
It's worked for me more than once
