Hi,
I went to the Job Centre today for my first JSA meeting and I have to go to an 'embracing change meeting'. What is this and how long do you think it will last?
Also, I am going on holiday before my first meeting with my advisor. What should I do?
Also, they want statements for my e-ISA. My bank doesn't give statements for this. What should I do?
Thanks, and sorry for all the questions :P
(Edit- Sorry didn't mean to put the title as just job centre)

You need to inform them you are going on holiday. If you are staying in Britain you have to be able to come back for any interview. I'm not sure whether yo have to sign on where you go on holiday too.
If you are going abroad, youhave to sign off and do a rapid reclaim when you come back.
Can you print off the details from your online banking of your eISAmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I'm not sure whether JCP will accept home print-outs of an e-ISA. They might do but the Pension Service wouldn't accept a print-out of my e-savings account. I had to phone the bank and ask them to print out a statement, (not that I have any money in there anyway.)0

The advisor said they don't accept printouts, and that I would have to speak to my bank. They said they don't give statements.

Also, I realise I have to sign off when going on holiday, but how do I do it? Also, do I get paid benefits for the period before I go, even though I haven't had a second meeting?0 -
ok first of all your bank will provide proper statement if you explain why you need it,as for holiday if you are going abroad you tell the jcp when you are going and when you return, your claim will be stopped and when you return you do a "rapid"reclaim0

Why did you not ask your advisor about the length of the meeting you've been sent to?
You will have been given a small booklet with details of your regular appointments on the back. In that, it will tell you how to sign off. Did you not read it?
You will be paid from the 4th day after your claim started, until the day before you go on holiday, as you must serve 3 waiting days when you make a new claim unless you've claimed in the previous 6 months and your circumstances are otherwise unchanged. However, you won't be paid until you've provided any evidence you've been asked for.
Your bank will provide a statement, but you may have to pay for it. You could ask for a print out of recent transactions, rather than a statement. In the interim, send what you can print out yourself, with an explanatory note. It may be acceptable to the Decision Makers at the Benefit Centre.0 -

It slipped my mind (first ever time in the job centre), if I had asked I wouldn't be on here asking.
I have read the book. It doesn't say how to sign off. Can you just phone them?
I go on holiday before my next appointment that is stated on the back of the book.
My bank won't provide a statement until the end of the tax year. Or I can have a statement from the end of the last tax year, which the job centre won't accept as its more than one month old. It costs £10 to get as well.0 -
the bank will provide a statement just explain why you need it,they may make a small charge but they WILL provide it0

If it were my first meeting and I was referred to something like that I'd like to know more than just the name of it. I find it strange that you didn't...
There is a pull-out section in the booklet which you complete to sign off. You cannot call them - the number was set up for people who were signing off to return to work. I don't believe that has changed. If you can't find the pull out section just write a letter specifying when you want your claim to close and the reason why, and hand that in.
And yes, your bank MAY charge you, but you will not be paid until you provide the evidence. They will not negotiate on that, so it's either stump up what the bank wants to charge you, or go without JSA.0 -
Would you be able to double check about the statements thing, all my banking is online and they wanted statements on all my accounts for the past year so I printed everything out. If I had paid £10 per statement that would have cost a bomb. I would just double check, or speak to another advisor. As you'll find everyone in that place will say something different!
Could you ring up the JCP and ask them how long this course will be? They usually quote way over the top, the longest one I ever went on was 45minutes!!0
