Hi Folks
My Preferred Library is Windows Media Player (current version 12)
Also need to use Itunes as husband has ipod, I have an old creative. My Music is usually on WMP his on Itunes. This seemed to be working fine. His ipod was on manual update (or something like that). Recently got a new computer had backed old info on external hard drive, now when transferring acrossing the WMP contains both sets of music.
I've googled and googled to try and find a solution with no luck. I've saved itunes in the OS(C) music files in My Music. Chosen the library for WMP as "My Music" Deleted OS(C) from library choices.
unticked automatic updating, deleted music I don't want from WMP etc
Library is fine for a couple of minutes and then starts re adding the itunes files WMP keeps updating and adding all the Itunes Files.
Can anyone please help me stop this happening. I want to run Itunes and WMP separately. Or Dump Itunes all together.
Thanks

It will do because you've placed the iTunes folder in the My Music folder. It will automatically add any music in any subdirectory it finds there.
You need to move the iTunes folder elsewhere.0 -
Itunes in separate folder in 0S (C) music in my music are the albums that I want there.
Where else can I move Itunes?0 -
in your My Music you presumably have several folders in there, one will be 'iTunes' and the others will most likely be your music,
when you are modifying the music 'Library' instead of adding the entire 'My Music' folder just add the folder/s that contain your music, it may even be easier to put all your music in one 'Slimsia Music' folder and add that to the music Library, again ignoring the iTunes folder.0 -
Hi there, no Itunes folder in the "My Music" Folder I moved it to OS (C) My Music is in C:\Users\
Itunes is C:\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music0 -
hmm, if the iTunes folder is definitely not included in any 'Libraries' (music, pictures, ect.) then it shouldn't be being added to WMP, no idea why it is then.0

Mmmm think you may have sussed it. But don't want to get my hopes up. I had only removed C drive from the Music library but not pictures videos etc.
had previously uninstalled SyncUp but it made no difference. now the i'm removing those libraries the WMP icon is flashing and when I hover over it has a file sharing box. 3 separate ones. each one saying "Windows removed the location from your library, but couldn't stop sharing the location" Any ideas?0 -
:j so far seems to be going ok0

iTunes has an option not to copy the music files into the iTunes library.0
