I think the article on cheap travel insurance needs updating, it says :

Age 70-74 from £57 If travelling in Europe, the cheapest by some distance is to get annual insurance from EHIC Plus* at £57.26 for individuals and £94.49 for a couple (all policyholders need a Free EHIC Card too, else you're likely to not be covered for medical costs).

In fact annual insurance comes out at £92.25 for a 70 year old individual!
Quite a difference.
Oops. key rollover gives tracel in heading.

    No.

    £57.26 for a 70 year old.

Up 26 pence from the £57 quoted in the article. Shocking!

Perhaps someone could tell me what lines not to fill in then because I cannot get that figure for a 70 year old. What am I doing wrong?

You must be adding extras (eg longer than 31 day holidays, cruise cover etc)

Just doing the basic medical cover has brought it down to £65.85.

If you take out EHICplus, it's really really important you get an EHIC card and carry it at all reasonable occassions. Also if you are taken to hospital, if possible request a state hospital as being sent / directed to a private hospital is common

Ah! I had ticked the outpatient medical care thinking that was the basic policy and not, as it turns out, and emergency extra which brought it up to the £65 mark. Thanks everyone.

The EHIC card will not cover you for repatriation should you need it, I don't know about the EHIC + but it's worth checking, just in case.
