I have to say, I don't recall seeing anything about word limits etc.0 -
copy of email I've just received;
'Excellent. Many thanks. The response has been amazing. As a result I haven't had time to read your review yet. We will be reading all the reviews over the next few days and checking that they meet the 100 word minimum and are written by parents of children currently studying at school. We have set a limit of 2,500 reviews for this promotion and the offer of vouchers will cease when we reach 2,500 reviews on the site. As of 1st April, 2007, we had approximately 2,010 reviews on the site.
Due to the demand for vouchers we will not able to send them out until after Easter. Bear with us.
Thanks again.
Best wishes
Jayne'
It's very easy to spot the 'I want a £10 voucher' reviews... poorly written, no attention to spelling, absolutely no information about the school they are reviewing and hardly any words. Advertising costs a fortune so this is a relatively inexpensive way of promoting the site and building up a bank of reviews. I sincerely hope, and honestly expect, that they won't pay out for some of the junk that is appearing.0 -
it does clearly state that it has to be minimum off 100 words,i saw this on the website where the school reviews are.Won 2010: Butlins 5 day Break and £250, 1 yr Virgin Active membership, Meal for 10 at Best Parties Ever, skyline 2011 dvd.

If you wrote less than a 100 word review then you have done a pretty bad job of reviewing the school! I wrote 300 and had to limit myself there. Good or bad, you should have easily been able to do more than 100 words.0 -
First to review my daughter's school too. Fingers crossed voucher comes. I'll be putting it away for xmas presents. Plus my boots vouchers from pigsback etc etc xmas is almost paid for. HahaIn order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.0

Hi
I work for the company that is doing the schoolsnet M&S promotion. It is a real and limited promotion to kick start the idea of parents writing school reviews.
They are busy processing all the reviews and will be writing to people as soon as possible. The vouchers will go out after Easter. The promotion will close when they have achieved 2,500 new reviews on the site. They currently have about 1700. You can check how many reviews are on the site by clicking on 'reviews' and scrolling through the pages.
Remember, you have to be a parent of a child currently at school and the review needs to be a 100 word minimum.
For more information see the site Schoolsnet.com.
To be fair to the people running the promotion (and our poster jayneJ here, also assuming it is her replying to the emails) can I suggest that everyone refrains from chasing them too hard for the vouchers until after Easter, which is when they've said that they'll send them out?
If they've actually got to read all these reviews, check them for length, appropriate content, etc, they've got plenty of work on their hands!0 -
This is a copy of the email I received today (my highlight). I wonder why posting elsewhere would endanger accuracy or credibility?
Surely it simply saves on the necessity for wider advertising.
Hi all,
A quick update on the Mumsnet promotion. I guess you're wondering where your voucher is.
Well, the response has been amazing. And there is only me to write to you all and read your reviews! As a result I haven't had time to read them all yet. Sadly, some people posted the Mumsnet promotion on some other sites and so in the interests of accuracy and credibility for ourselves, the schools and the genuine parents, we have to check each one carefully.
I will be reading all the reviews over the next week and checking that they meet the 100 word minimum and are written by parents of children currently studying at school.
We have set a limit of 2,500 reviews for this promotion. But rest assured, those of you who completed genuine reviews up to and including the 2,500th review will receive their vouchers, which due to the increased demand for vouchers, we will not be able to send out until after Easter, hopefully by April 20th. Believe me its a lot of envelopes to stuff.
So please, bear with us. And thank you again, for joining Schoolsnet. I hope you will check out the groups on the site and if you can't find what you are looking for. Please set up your own. Check us out at https://www.schoolsnet.com.
Thanks again.
Jayne
PS: And for the cynics out there who have asked how we can afford to give parents £10 per review? Well we could have just blown it on a newspaper or online ad asking you to write reviews.
But for our intial launch, and it is a one-off, we decided it would be far better and more effective to show parents how much we appreciate them and reward them directly for the one thing we needed, their opinion of their child's school.0 -

True enough - they've certainly had loads of free publicity.
However, if it has gone onto every other UK freebie site, they'll no doubt have the problem of the unscrupulous and the dishonest, who will no doubt just make things up (or worse still cut and paste another review) to try and take advantage fraudulently.0 -

Bit of a slur on other freebie sites, I have seen the same go on here for a freebie. Many a time in fact. The very fact that this is a freebie section and having free membership means the unscrupulous might be here too.0 -
My point is that no matter where she recruits from, there are going to be a number of scammers, but probably no more on freebie sites than anywhere else. Lots on consciencious parents will be on these sites looking to save a bob or two0
