Just a word, to save someone from making the same embarrassing phone call to them that I just did.

If you're opening a Co-op Bank account, your PIN is on the bit you tear off. Don't try and scratch the bit on the letter to find it, like me.

The young man on the phone was very nice about it and we ended up both laughing. I don't think I was the first person to ring up about this.

If anyone from the Co-op Bank is reading this, some instructions would save your customers hassle and your staff time.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

I've got my Co-op Bank PIN letter in front of me. It says, in bold print: IMPORTANT: Please see reverse for instructions to reveal your PIN.

When you turn over it says:

"If this letter has been tampered with or your PIN tab looks like images 3, 4, 5 or 6, please call your issuer. Otherwise, peel back the Pin Tab.
(then follows the series of pictures to show how it might have been tampered with)
To read your PIN, place the strip on white paper. You must destroy the strip when you've memorised your PIN."

It really could not be spelled out any more simply.

I must admit, I had no problems reading the instructions on the rear of the paper, and they were as EarthBoy stated.

I didn't memorise the PIN though, instead I took the little piece of plasticky type paper with my to the ATM (obviously not in my wallet where the card was, just in case), and changed the PIN to something of my choosing, then disposed of it.
