You need to narrow down the fault first.
Plug in an external monitor and see if it does it on there too, That should tell you if the problem is with the screen or the graphics chip.
If it does it on both then its probably the graphics chip (although I would boot it into linux to make sure its not a software problem), At this stage I would bake the motherboard (8 mins @ 190°C in an electric oven) this normally works (70/30%) it will reflow all of the solder points on the back of the graphics chip and other dry joint problems on the rest of the board.
If it only happens on the built in screen then it could be either the wire or the screen, They are pretty cheap on ebay if you dont have access to another screen to try0 -

I have never come across one that will try and repair the motherboard despite how easy it is, They would usually want ~£200 for a replacement motherboard fitted, I have done probably 10 since christmas with the same sort of issue (Usually no video at all through external or laptop screen) and probably 5 of those went in for repair first and were told they needed a new motherboard @ ~£200
I fixed them usually within an hour and charged ~£30 each depending on if i knew them or they were mates of mates of mates etc..
Oh and got them all working0
