Hi,
I have just booked a 3 night break to Milan in August (managed to find reasonable flights thanks to Martin's flightchecker service) and we are staying in a hotel which is walking distance to central Milan.
I wanted to find out if any of you have any must see's/do's whilst we're there? I will be reading through the tripadvisor forums to get some ideas but wanted to find out from you guys as well. If it makes any difference we're there on a Friday/Saturday and Sunday.

So many nicer places to go. It's my least favourite place in Italy. Walk on the roof of the Duomo, perhaps visit La Scala for a performance if you like that sort of thing. Other than that, not much!!Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Rinascente. It has clean toilets too. And a fabulous homewares dept in the basement.0 -
You can take the train to Lake Como. It takes about 1 hour with a swap in Saronno dependent on which station in Milan you go from. It costs €5 or thereabouts. We did it at the end of June, it was fab.0

I recommend this too. Don't get the train from Milano Centrale as although it's very quick you will have to pay a supplement for the intercity. Get the local train from the station near the castle to Como largo nord (I think that's the name of other station in Como right on the lake).0 -
oooh the lake sounds like something we would really enjoy, will definitely be going there!0

Verona is an easy day trip by train from Milan and its worth going if you've never been.
Pavia is also a lovely city about half an hour south of Milan. It's an historic university town, you can walk around the university courtyards and there is also a lovely covered bridge. You can get the intercity from Centrale or the bit slower but cheaper local train from Rogoredo.0
