RBS/NatWest YourPoints World Mastercard - 0% on Purchases for 18 months or 13!!?

Hello MSE-ers!

Just a quick warning for anyone who has recently applied for the RBS/NatWest YourPoints World Mastercard that you may not have been given the 18 months 0% on purchase that you applied for.

I applied for an RBS one at the start of June after seeing it mentioned on the credit card page of MSE and have just found out that instead of getting the 18 months 0% on purchases offer I have only been given 13 months.

RBS have told me that they have had a number of complaints from people who have had the same issue (and that third party websites - like MSE? - have been directing people to the wrong part of the website) BUT they are refusing to give me the 18 month offer that I applied for . I know that I applied for the 18 months offer - if I had been offered 13 months I wouldn't have applied for it because we all know you can do better with the likes of Amex, Tesco, M&S, Halifax and Barclaycard at the moment!! :rotfl:

Anyway - if you applied for one in the last couple of months you might want to check that you've got 18 months.

  • Just applied+ been accepted, clearly states 18mo's everywhere - you'd have to be an idiot to think you were applying for 18mo's but actually got 13.

It would have said in the application process that you are applying for a 13 month deal. They dont just change it after you've applied.

Clearly another case of whizzing through an application and not reading it properly

Instead of starting a new thread I just google my situation and found this thread.

I applied for and was accepted for a Nat West yourpoints Master card in June of this year on the 0% for 18 month deal. Anyhow I mislaid my wallet earlier this month so I cancelled the card thinking it was lost and asked for a replacement to be sent.

The replacement card has arrived and it says my interest free period is 13 months from the start of the account which I know isn't correct. I phoned Nat West to discuss and the nice lady on the phone checked my details and said my original deal was for 13 months not 18. I know this isn't correct but I don't have my original papewrork to back up my arguement.

I'm really disappointed about that as I know the 18 months was one of the best deals around at that time, I even told a work collegue about it and he applied for the same deal. But theres not much I can do about it. Anyway just wanted to share my story and show support for the original poster.

  • It will cost you £10 but why don't you SAR them?
This would clear up the matter once and for all.
