Hi guys,
The Mail on Sunday is writing an article about 0870 numbers and would like to interview some people who are fed up with paying 8p a min to call 0870 numbers.
So if you fancy talking about this please PM me with your name and telephone number.
Thanks

Don't forget that it's not just 0870.
It's other numbers like 0844 (which is becoming popular with GPs, schools and hospitals), 0845 and 0871.
These aren't either local/national rate that is generally claimed especially by telephone providers.
More and more companies are now migrating to either 084x or 0871 (which was to be expected). Going Places is the latest to start using these numbers.
I've said this before but I think personally that more should be done to educate consumers that 0844, 0845, 0870 and 0871 are just stealth premium rate numbers with no current protection like prohibiting of call charging whilst stuck in a queue, etc.
Basically, these numbers are without the protection/safeguards that is offered by 09x numbers and this is why so many companies/government departments specifically choose 08x numbers instead of 09x for their revenue share so they can gain money from consumers without them (in most cases) being aware of it.
Calls to these numbers can cost upto 40p/min from some mobile networks and most of the time these numbers are excluded from inclusive minutes that we may have with our telephone provider.0 -
If you are fed up, please SIGN THE PETITION if you haven't yet done so.
It closes on 4 April - so don't delay.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I think it was Gorden Brown who thought up these numbers!0

Gordon Brown wouldnt of thought of those numbers. It was probably a telecommunications company. He would be very pleased with the revenue it generates though.0

Hi Dangeroussports, I was being facetious about Gorden Brown. It seems to be the same underhanded tactics used to part us from OUR money. It's smoke and mirrors al the way.
