Faster Payments made to C1 will be received by their bank seven days a week. Their cards' due dates will fall on either a Saturday (twice) or Sunday (three times) five months during 2012. - also making use of all the days of the week.

They are clear on their statement information that a cutoff of 5.30pm (on the date they receive the payment) applies to the date applied to that payment. I say 'clear', but the actual quote is quite ambiguous:

"Faster Payments received by Captial One before 5.30pm will reach your credit card account the same day. Payments made after 5.30pm will reach your account the next day"
'Faster Payments received' and 'Payments made' is ambiguous - but the obvious connotation is that they are saying payment actually is received immediately it is made (which is the experience with Faster Payment) Repetition is poor style but style has nothing to do with being accurate!

Anyway I wanted to confirm with somebody that Capital One does actually now credit payments made ('received') on a weekend either on that day (if before 5.30pm) or otherwise on the 'next day'. (i.e. for seven days a week)?

[I want to make a payment Saturday or Sunday rather than Friday]

According to Capital One (this afternoon) they do 'give value' on payments made seven days a week and not five. (This makes sense. Cahoot, for instance I was recently able to make payments to - and see within 2 hours on the day - on both Saturday AND Sunday.)

She also said they now (within the past two months only) expedite an over-the-phone debit card payment the same day - irrespective of the actual time it takes Capital One to receive the transfer from your bank. There is no requirement to make the payment on a bank working day, the payment has 'immediate value' applied to the balance on your account (Not sure you can go out and spend it that quickly!). This is a relaxation of the 'two clear working day' information currently printed on the reverse of statements.

(I won't use that method but if true it is definitely a 'customer-friendly ' move which will help account holders avoid charges in future)
