Warning: Scam ppi claiming texts

Morning all - I received a text message from 07781 475 035 this morning saying: "We have been trying to contact you regarding your PPI Claim, we now have details of how much you are due, just reply CONFIRM and we will call you back"

I do have an outstanding PPI claim currently going on, so I was tempted to text back, but I had a letter from the bank I'm claiming from only this week saying it would be a further 4 weeks before I have a response.

So before replying I tried calling the number from my work phone - it was a dead line.

Then I googled the number and found the number listed on a variety of sites which log scam phone numbers:

I am not entirely sure what the benefit to this scam company is, except maybe to verify that the phone number exists and that someone is stupid enough to reply to someone they don't know, and then maybe sell the number on. I just thought I'd better warn as many of us as I could. Sorry if I've got this in the wrong forum section!

Going by the number of posts here from people who have signed up to a claims company due to a cold call, I'd say your warning is in the right place and very timely.:)

I have had that exact same spam. A dont have PPI, never had and never put in a complaint. It is just a scam by another dodgy claims company.

Please forward to 7726 (spells "SPAM"). Your network will then block the number.

Similar lies from 07781211830, claiming to have £2,803 waiting for me for missold PPI. Have never bought PPI in my life, let alone claimed for it, let alone through anonymous scambags like these
