The one I've got is Victory Cookbook by Marguerite Patten again. The recipes are brilliant as are the little snippets of explanation and putting the food into context. The only problem is that it doesn't have an index so after making something tasty it's a nightmare to try to find it again as it isn't arranged according to type of recipe, but the period, as it goes from 1940 to 1954. Consequently mine has lots of silly little sticky bookmarks sticking out. Whoever thought of a cookbook without an index is beyond daftness!!

Oooohhh I have read a lot about the home front and cooking during the war but I have never read any of the original cookbooks. I will need to have a wee look!
