Need help with guardsman claim

Purchased a Leather Corner Unit from SCS who recommended the Guardsman insurance protection because we had a cat.
Cat scratched unit, made claim to Guardsman, Guardsman refused claim on the grounds it damage wasn't non malicious, policy states scratches would be covered as accidental damage.
I am not sure damage was malicious or otherwise anyone who has a cat will know they do damage things on purpose but we won't tell the company.
Do I have a valid complaint and where do I go?
Cheers

Is this your first claim for pet scratches?
Has anyone from Gaurdsman been out to see the unit?
It states the following is covered:Unlimited claims for minor pet
scratches - enhanced cover
and the following is not covered:domestic pet damage caused by biting, chewing or extensive
scratching. Extensive scratching includes incidents of multiple scratching (including multiple areas) or any scratching which has occurred over
a period of time and/or not reported to us at the time of the occurrence
If noone has been out did yo say anything to them over the phone to allude to the second quote?0 -
Be tenacious - their first job is to get rid of you and hope you go away so that they do not have to start spending money. As long as you have checked the small print and you are covered you have a valid claim.
If the scratches are small you may be better getting a leather repair Oen and doing it yourself - that way you will have one if it happens again.
Hope this helps
