Any advice on where the best place is to go for fitted wardrobes? The only company that springs to mind is Sharps, but I've no idea if they're any good.

Sharps are very expensive.
Try a local joiner / carpenter.
If you identify where you are based, somebody may give you a recommendation.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
I'm on the Berkshire/Surrey/Hampshire border. We would like fitted wardrobes in two of our bedrooms, and possibly some fitted cupboards/shelves in the living room as well. The spaces for the wardrobes are conventional rectangular alcoves and so there are no problems with awkward corners etc.
These are children's bedrooms, and so we probably want a more interesting colour-scheme than pine/white etc.
Once our loft conversion is completed we will also probably be wanting plenty of innovative storage up there as well.0 -
We got fitted wardrobes a few years back and found that Sharpes was really expensive, the local carpenters/joiners we rang were less keen as they had to plan it themselves. 2 of them never even returned quotes.
There are a lot of local companies which specialise in wardrobes - go for one of those, better price than sharps, but much more specialised service.
Not recommending, but people like these may give you a cheaper quote than sharps and better quality too.

Are you handy with a tool kit? You can buy sliding doors from most of the big sheds, or online. Then kit out the inside with a modular system such as:

a good fitted wardrobe using a good recommended fitter is unlikely to be cheap especially if your sizes aren't standard.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Good-value and well made, more than cheap, is my objective.0
