Where to get some DPX42 eolys diesel particulate filter fluid
Hi,
I need some help in finding some diesel particulate fluid for my Peugeot 307 hdi 2.0l 110 2002 (52). I have managed to find out that I need an eolys dpx42 type because of the year my car was built.
The Peugeot part numbers are 9979.95 for 4.5 litre bottle and 9736.65 for a 1 litre bottle. My local Peugeot stealer is quoting me £134.45 & £42.37:eek: .
If I go for the smaller bottle then I will have to go through all this again after opening the diesel cap 35 times ish.
Does anyone know where I could find it any cheaper then my local dealer or if the alternative which is a pat fluid by jlm (found on eBay) which can do both types of eolys is any good? Not sure if it is cause my car can only take dpx42 eolys and can’t be mixed with the other but this fap fluid can be used for any type which seems strange.
Any help would be appreciated

IMHO I would not even bother with the JML stuff - Eolys fluid is based on Cerium (III) Oxide, highly toxic and poisonous stuff. Since you can't mix the JML PAT fluid with the genuine stuff you would need to empty and clean the additive tank first - and how would you do that safely? Not worth the effort to save £10.
DIY top up takes up to 30 minutes. And I think you don't need to reset the ECU following DPX42 top up, but better check some Peugeot/Citroen forums and ask there."Retail is for suckers"

Thanks for the reply GolfBravo.
I wont bother with the jlm fluid like you said i would need to clean out the tank to even put the fluid in but also its not actually the fluid i need.
I have found another fluid on ebay. It states its dpx42 eolys fluid but its made by a company call walker (product #80500) and it costs £101.42 (129.99euro) + £9.64 (11.90 euro) postage (Item no 150570786497 ). only problem is its in germany so it would take a while to get here.
Has anyone used this before or know if i could get this here?
Sorry to be a pain, was only going to use 1litre as budget is tight but then thought i would have to do it again in a few months time so im trying to get the 4.5litre cheap as poss.
Thanks0 -
I wouldnt buy something like that off ebay, Unless its a main dealer selling it.
Especially a foreign seller. How do you prove its their fault your car needs ££££ worth of work because of their fluid.
If its that much of an issue sell the car and buy something that doesnt use it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
IHMO go for the genuine 1l bottle - at least you know you're getting the right/best eolys fluid. With the non-genuine stuff you have absolutely no guarantee that it's going to work, and it could end up very expensive in the end.
1 litre should last you for quite a while anyway - how long did the original 4.5 litres last for? 70-80K miles?
Also you really need to find out if your car needs the eolys fluid counter reset - some PSA cars do, some don't.
And then budget for the 4.5 litre bottle next year (if you're going to keep the car for longer)."Retail is for suckers"

Looks like im going to have to get the genuine stuff
I have contacted a few Peugeot and Citroen dealers and only the Peugeot ones have got back to me so far quoting £134.45 & £42.37. So ill wait for a Citroen dealer to get back to me and see if there is any difference in price.
My cars just gone over 90k so a full fluid tank from new has lasted this long. The only problem is that the system thinks that you always fill the tank with 50 litres. Every time you remove & replace the fuel cap it injects 31ml into the tank. It can’t tell if you have put in half a tank and then dose 15.5ml.
I only usually put in half a tank of diesel so I need to change my habit and fill it up even more.
Thanks for the help anyway

All Peugeot/Citroen/Ford/Jaguar/Mini diesel particulate systems use information from the fuel level sensor to determine the correct amount of eolys fluid required. The amount injected is proportional to the quantity of fuel added, as long as you add more than 10 litres - if it is less than 10 litres it uses a standard minimum quantity.
And the diesel additive ECU measures the fluid quantity in grams, not millilitres - it doesn't weight the quantity, it just activates the additive pump for a set length of time (proportional to the approx. quantity of fuel added)."Retail is for suckers"

In respect to the system injecting a proportional amount of fluid to the quantity of diesel does that apply to my car.
Its a 2002 (52) peugeot 307 hdi. I only ask as i found the information about how much it injects on my travels finding out about the fluid and i just happen to see someone had posted when and how much it injects.0 -
Your car's FAP ECU definitely calculates the amount of eolys to inject depending on quantity of fuel added - even your 2002 model does it.
The reason is that eolys fluid apart from the actual cerium (about 6%) also contains certain minerals. It is those minerals that eventually block the FAP filter - they don't burn in the filter, and once the filter contains about 185g of (mostly) mineral ash it needs to be cleaned. So you can't have too much eolys in the diesel - the filter would block prematurely.
If you were to put in only 10 litres of diesel and exactly 31ml was injected every single time, your FAP filter wouldn't even last 20K miles.
The system injects 37.5ml of eolys (containing 1.9g of cerium) for 60l of diesel - this is the dose that the system is designed to work with, so every time you remove the fuel cap the ECU then calculates how much fuel was added and then injects appropriate amount of eolys.
The problem is however that the minimum amount of eolys it can inject is 6ml - so you should always put in at least 10 litres of diesel each time."Retail is for suckers"

I emailed a few dealers the other day and one got back to me saying they have the 4.5l bottle in stock and its £112.47, so i got it straight away.
From a few emails i have saved £22 and i have the genuine part.
Now i just need to follow the info on that website above and its hopefully all sorted
thanks GolfBravo you've been a real help :T0
