Any claims in the past 3 years...

We had a claim... April 2002, my partners sister drove into the back of our car!!...
So it had to go through insurance... we were not at fault... did not lose any no claims discount and all costs were claimed from the third party as I understand it....
But I have just had Elephant justifying a difference in my insurance quotes because on one quote I had not mentioned the claim.... they said that although there was no lose on my part it does still go against me..... how unfair is that... is this typical of most companies?

Delcaring any claims has nothing to do with who was at fault. You must declare them. As regards what the Ins Company do about it is their matter, if you were talking to an experienced motor underwriter, which you prob weren't, then they would obv see that you were not at fault and ignore this claim for the purposes of the quote. However, with the increase of direct insurers where price is everything and the computer is the underwriter, they only want to cover drivers within certain perameters, so anyone outside that get penalised.0
