Won an item this morning and paid straight away.
About an hour after I got an email from eBay to say item dispatched.
This afternoon I got a refund through PayPal with a message from seller to say they can't access the money to pay for postage and can I send the money direct through PayPal? They are going to send me an invoice.
Would I still be covered if I pay this way?

Only if you pay for named goods.
However seller is still likely to be subject to the 21 day hold and as a buyer I would be extremely unhappy at being inconvenienced like this. I might be tempted actually to refuse, the sellers cash flow has nothing to do with you, but I suspect if you refuse then you won't get the goods.
However, I would not be happy to be asked later to agree to a mutual cancellation and would not be leaving perfect feedback and starsI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. This type of thing seems to be happening a fair bit lately.. 3 times in the last 6 weeks or so ive had sellers either asking me to wait the 21 days before they post or the latest is please leave positive fb so funds are released and i can post it to you.0

Right now you get firm, no more Mr Nice Guy.
You may have to face not getting your item , but email the seller and say they appear to have overcharged you and you will expect a proper invoice by return as you have already paid once and had expected despatch by now.
See what they say, but basically be prepared to walk away from this and make sure that later on you use the feedback to warn other buyers to be careful using this seller.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
