Anything for people that live alone and can't qualify for WTCs?

I literally earned £30-50 more last year than the max threshold to claim WTCs. I am 31 years old, live alone in a shared ownership property. My only benefit is the single occupancy for council tax. Bills are going up and my wage is covering my bills and leaving me little for food and other things. I want some more money. Changing jobs isn't an option as jobs are few and far between. Plus I work for a supermarket and walk to work - that saves me about £1,000-1,200 a year in fuel and staff discount - so ideally need to look for a job that pays at least £1,800 a year more. I don't want to change jobs and I am worse off as the extra income is all swallowed up by food and fuel costs.

Could you not get another part-time job, evening or weekends to supplement your income?

Good idea - or even something very flexible like ebay or matched betting?

Taking advantage of free bets offered by bookmakers. Only recommended to those who have no inclination to gamble with the free bet. ..... and you need money to make money using this method.

If you back one side with the bookie you need to back all other outcomes with another bookie or two. i.e Back the home win, the draw, and an away win. One of the bets will win. Then you do the same with the free bet. That's how you get the profit. It's quite complex.

For me though the earnings (winnings) are tax free and do not affect benefits. If I were to take a second job I would lose 96% of anything I earnt by way of reduced benefits making it pointless. I could make £20 in an hour or two matched betting.

Put your detials into the benefit calculator www.turn2us.org.uk just to check that you aren't eligible for any other benefit.

Forget getting additional help from the G'ment, they only reward the people who breed them the next generation of tax payers, single people are overlooked and abandoned, as they obviously live in a parallel universe vacuum where their rents as well as the cost of living, eating and using heating and lighting is magically less than those giving birth, by a fold of around 10

Parts of your post is conflicting however. At one point you recognise the situation and its solution in the same sentence
so ideally need to look for a job that pays at least £1,800 a year more.
But earlier in the post, you disputed this possibility by saying
Changing jobs isn't an option as jobs are few and far between
Have you applied for each and every Job in your area to ascertain that there are no Jobs?. I use 'Jobsite' on a regular basis, i've yet to see any general area which displays '0' results when searched, so its safe to assume that there are SOME jobs in every area.

Since you are single and have no ties, have you considered moving to a different area with a better chance of finding a Job which pays more?, or even moving overseas?

Whilst you are single and childless, no G'ment entity is going to look at you twice or give you a penny - FACT, so deal with it, and realise that the only way your going to solve the problem is by helping to better your situation YOURSELF, and that, by your own admission, is to better your employment and salary situation, or carry on with your present income.

Sorry, but thats about it, those are your choices.

Is there anything you could do (courses for example) to increase your chance of getting a promotion?
