money not being cleared

I recently had a large sum of money (5 figures) transferred to my lloyds vantage account and I immediately transferred it out to my northern rock esaver account. the northern rock account is where all my spare money goes into and prior to this amount of money going in there usually about 4000 pounds inside. I transferred the money about 5 hours ago but the money is still sitting inside the uncleared transactions part. normally when i transfer money in it's immediately cleared...not this time though. any reason why?

there are limits to how much you can transfer in any 24 hour period for example natwest limit is £10k and santander used to be £15k -I suggest you find out, and or do a trial transfer of £10 to see how long it takes

If it is unusual for your account to receive 'large sums', the bank might have to investigate under 'Proceeds of Crime' and 'Money laundering' legislation, that all is right and proper.

Your almost instant transfer might have upped the ante, as transfers from one account to another (and another) are typical for money laundering.

I'm sure, everything is in order with the payment and it will only be slightly delayed.

Bigfred gave you good advice there.Try transferring a tenner and let us know if that arrives

Fraud. You've transferred a large credit in and pinged it back out almost immediately. It's gonna present a big red flag to any fraud team. They'll do some checks, perhaps give you a phone, before they send it on.

    Hi guys, an update

i might have been abit unclear in my first post, this is what I did:

a large sum (5 fig) sterling transferred over from standard chartered bank in another country to my LTSB current account

FROM the LTSB current account TO the NR e-saver once the TT cleared

LTSB only allowed me to transfer up to 25,000 a day and that was what I did.

NR on the other hand showed the 25,000 as UNCLEARED from about 2pm-ish till quite late at night yesterday...im not sure as I went to sleep at 11ish but when I woke up today at 8ish it was cleared with yesterday's date.

Just transfered about 100 quid from LTSB to NR...let's see how it goes

    cheers guys :)
