My credit reports are too different!

Hello
Although I'm in a massive amount of debt I've never had too much of a problem getting my hands on new debt (think that's the problem lol
) until I was refused a new bank account and credit card last year.
I thought the problem would fix itself after I went on the electoral roll but it didn't and I got turned down again. I ordered up my credit files from https://www.checkmyfile.com only to find that Equifax and Callcredit have lots of details on me but Experian doesn't. My file is almost empty! I moved house a year ago and they have a note of my new address but no previous addresses, credit history etc.
I know this is probably irrelevant as Martin says credit ratings don't really exist, but Equifax and Callcredit gave me 4/5 stars but Experian gave me 1/5. I was wondering if this is the reason I have been refused so many times?
I wrote to Experian recorded delivery and enclosed copies of my other two reports and asked them to fix this. I thought that would be easier than going through the specifics of what they have left off seeing as practically everything was missing!! Did I do the right thing?
I haven't heard from them and it's been over 2 weeks so I'm getting worried. Also the royal mail website says they don't have a note of my letter being signed for. I can't get through to them on the phone to discuss this without having bought their own report (which I don't want to do - not very moneysaving to buy the same info twice!)
Anyway if anyone has any words of wisdom for me I would be so grateful! I'm just so keen to get out of debt and need to move my debt to get cheaper rates but keep getting refused.
Thanks
Kyra x

Hi there. You can view your experian report directly at https://www.experian.co.uk/creditreport you can sign up for a 30day free trial and view your report online straight away. At least when you have signed up you can speak to them comfortably about it. Just remember to cancel before the 30 days are up. Sorry if this is the wrong info.0

Hi Duncans mum and thank you for replying - I will do that right now and let you know how I get on...
Just logged on to the website you gave me and it asked me for my credit card details. Stopped carrying that round with me for obvious reasons a while ago, will need to do it another time!0 -
Ooops sorry. Never mind. Might be worth a look later on though if you can. I found it invaluable.0

Hello
Well... I got my report and it's showing 3 mysterious linked addresses which I have asked them to remove. Apart from that, everything else is there. They've given me a really rubbish credit score but I probably deserve that after all the years of credit abuse I've had! I'm going to have to pay off the credit card debt before the 0% deals end on my existing cards as I probably won't get any more credit with the way things are. No bad thing, I suppose (trying to look on the bright side...)
Thanks Duncansmum for all your help and thanks to everyone else who has posted amazing advice on the DFW board - if it wasn't for this site and this forum I dread to think when I would have had my LBM - if ever.
Lots of love K x :j0 -
Hi Princess,
Nice going on sorting it out. I just wanted to comment on you mentioning your credit score. As you say it is not bad thing that you have a poor credit score.
The only time this works against you really is when you want to get a better deal on a assett like a good mortgage rate. Any other type of credit such as Loans and Cards work against you in the long as you are paying them.
Although I havent checked my own credit score for about a year I know that mine is wrecked but I have peice of mind that I never will apply for credit again apart from my Mortgage nd that instead of Paying interest I will eventaully be receiving it on my savings.
Good luck with it in the future.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 297 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts

Thanks Crown!! How amazing will it be when we're earning money from the banks and not the other way round!
I am a bit worried about it because my mortgage deal runs out at the end of the year but I am going to blitz my debt before then and worry about everything later. You're right, no point getting upset with having a wrecked credit score, it's a good incentive to get things sorted out!
Anyway, I've totally fallen off the wagon with money this month and after months of being so good I feel terrible. I'm going away to my b/f's sisters this weekend and what if they all want to go out spending money? I don't really know what's happened to my discipline this month and I need to get things back on track - anyone got a spare lightbulb?? x x x0 -

Don't worry, it tends to happen to everyone at some point. Its not a problem, you just jump back on the wagon. Just make sure your plans on paying off your debt that you are not being too strict on yourself. Although you don't want to let things slide, the more pressure you put on yourself, maybe the more frustrated you will feel. We can all have a treat every now and again to keep the motivation going, as long as you budget for it and not put on credit card. (And it doesn't have to cost the earth)0 -
Well... Experian have written back and told me that they're querying the addresses with the companies that logged them. They're going to put a note on my credit file to let other searchers know I've queried them and to use the info with caution which is nice. They're also letting the companies which have searched my file within the last 6 months know about this... Does anyone know why are they doing this and what difference could it make to me?

Trouble is they only use the CRA 'CallCredit' and most lenders don't report to them ...
