Nationwide mortgage offer Delays

I'm interested to read these timelines as we are applying for a mortgage from Nationwide. We submitted the application on 20th July direct with Nationwide (no broker) and documents and product fee were taken then too. The survey has been instructed for this week or next. Our buyer is also using Nationwide but through a broker. The buyer submitted an application on 6th July and the survey took place within a week.
Waiting to see how long both applications take!0 -
Update - they even lost the fax that was sent from their branch yesterday.
Incompetence knows no limits at Nationwide.
Beginning to doubt this house move will happen. Can we pursue Nationwide for losses incurred?0 -
Having an awful experience with Nationwide and desperate for any advice/tips for speeding up an application. It's actually the purchaser of my property who is with them, but the delays are now jeopardising two sales and three families. The most frustrating part is thier empty promises that things will be done in'48hrs'. Every time we get ready to move, we are let down. Disgusted with their service.
Any help would be hugely appreciated, but going on the posts above, I'm losing all faith.0 -
We've been waiting three months for a formal offer since our agreement to go ahead with a mortgage wih them.
Delays have been at every single stage, most frustrating one that they needed 6 months bank statements. We bank with Nationwide. They already have our bank statements!
Branch mortgage advisor is useless, communication non existent, and they can't give us any firm idea when we will receive our offer.
Useless customer service.0 -

Applied in Nationwide branch on 7th August, Valuation carried out on 9th August, Offer sent out yesterday 23rd August. We brought everything in with us when we completed our application i.e P60, 3 months payslips, 3 months bank statements, signed letters from our HR departments at work confirming our salaries, etc. Our savings account was also with Nationwide so no proof of where the deposit had come from was needed.
I can only applaud Nationwide as the help/communication we have received from our Mortgage consultant there has been excellent. We are first time buyers and so far Nationwide has been brilliant at guiding us through the process of the mortgage.0 -
Just to add a bit of balance to this thread - I recently applied for a Nationwide (re)mortgage and the whole process was (realtively, for a mortgage application) smooth and without delay - i.e. it was no better/worse than my previous experience in applying for a mortgage0

Nationwide are absolutely terrible at the minute, not quite sure whats caused the downturn in turnaround times as they werent too bad up until a few weeks ago...
We have an employers reference in the queue that they recieved on the 2nd august, as of today it is 'still in the queue, hopefully will be looked at in the next 2 days'
Their turnaround times were on 20 working days just to look at a document and then if they ask for something else, that will go into the queue for another 20 days - even if it relates to the first document.
Dreadful...0 -
