I picked up the new Tesco Direct catalogue today and see that their software range is now out.

Antivirus and Antispyware
Internet Security
Photo Restyle
Personal Finance
Complete Office
Easy Record

Any one given it a try?

I can't really see why anyone would buy this software from Tesco's when similar better software packages are easily available for free on the net!

Nope, probably won't do either. The products would have to be very good to be better than the free alternatives.

It's good to see some competition in the marketplace though and they may suit some people who like to have some sort of formal support or guarantee.

Tesco Complete Office got a very good review in February 2007 issue of PC Answers. Editor's Choice award. They conclude: 'Overall,Tesco Complete Office is something of a miracle at the price'.

It may be cheap, but as said above, it's not free!

I think the office software is Ability Office. If the security stuff is Kaspersky it may be worth it as Kaspersky AV has a very good reputation.
