I fitted some Quickstep Quadra laminate tiles recently, Normal tiles would have been way too cold for the area. They are like the nomal click and lock laminate pieces but each one is an individual tile about 40cm x 40cm. We were coveringa bout 4-5sq m too. Took me about a day to lay mostly due to the kitchen having a few odd corners. Most of the cuts were fairly straight and I took the cabinet plinths off and fitted it under there. If we do ever suffer water damage I over ordered a few extra tiles and can just slot a few new ones into place, but so far the joints are that tight I believe they aren't too bad, a real soaking may be a problem but we worked on theory that having something that isn't cold(and also more likely to break anything dropped on it) was worth sacrificing for the slim chance of a flood damaged floor(which would probably be an accidental damage insurance claim). I also think it's more kind on our little ones who tend to use it as an extended road for there toys(and kinder on their knees). if the kitchen was seperate we may have gone for tiles, as it was, the location and our needs dictated that laminate suited us better

Think we used someone called flooringsupplies.co.uk for it, was delivered to the door a couple of days later, finished results as below. More than happy with it

For me it's floor tiles every time. Relatively cheap to buy and relatively easy to lay (Make sure you get a heavy duty tile cutter and not the ordinary type for wall tiles). Virtually no maintenance and pretty easy to clean and all kinds of designs to choose from.
