If you were told the cheque has bounced by the person who gave you the cheque then check with your Bank.

If you were told by the Bank, what else do you need to know?

If they paid a cheque in, it will show as a deposit on your account online or on a mini-statement and then will show as being returned unpresented or bounced.

Does sound like they are being less than honest with the truth.

It would still show as deposit if it bounced or not. check your account and see if the deposit was made and if it isnt then there telling you a load of old waffle and would seem they havent done as they have said

Next time ask them to send the cheque to YOU personally and you can pay it into the bank yourself. I wouldn't have anybody pay cheques into my bank for me - don't want to hand out information unnecessarily.

If you don't trust someone, don't accept a cheque. Full stop. Cash, Postal Order, direct bank transfer but never a cheque.

But you hand out your bank a/c & sort code every time you write a cheque, so there's no mystery about that.
