Closing bank account
I have been in a trust deed for 1 year. I had a first direct current account when I signed the trust deed. 2 weeks ago I phoned FD about my account and when I mentioned my trust deed, they said they would have to close my account with immediate effect. The result of this is that I still have not got my wages (which were due on the 10th) and have no money to buy food. Are they allowed to do this? Should I not have been given notice so that I could open basic bank account, notify employers etc?

First Direct are one of the worst banks for those who are in a formal Insolvency :-(
The fact that they have closed the account should not mean they shouldnt release the funds in the account - did you have an overdraft?
Open a new account ASAP - try the Co op cashminder and mkae sure your next wages get paid into the new account0 -
I had an overdraft but was told that the day that my wages went in I could phone up and they would transfer my wages to another account (luckily I still have an old savings account with very little in it) On pay day the money wasnt in my account. 2 days (and several phone calls to FD and my employer) it transpired that they had in fact sent the wages back to my employer (by BACS so took another 2 days to get to them), who understandably would not transfer wages to a different account without a new signed bank mandate0
