Hi thatbloke,
Yeah I see what you mean, but I guess that's the meaning of a syndicate. There's no way you'd be able to get 15 tickets (10 Lotto and 5 EuroMillions) which would = £20 for £4.50 and not be in a syndicate cos you all share the cost. I actually really like playing in a syndicate like this online because I win cash quite often and I also like getting the results to my mobile - it really makes playing the lotto a lot easier. As you can tell, I like playing the lottery!
This is only my opinion though! You can at least try the service for free and see if you like it.
Where did you get this review from? Is it another impartial website?0 -
Thanks thatbloke.
I found that review on the web but i noticed that it was promoting lovemylotto so i prsumed it was an affiliate or even lovemylotto themselves. So I came on MSE for some honest advice. Thanks for trying to help me out though. I appreciaite it.
thanks for your help NorthernSoul85.
I actually rang up LottoByText to ask them about the rewards - and they said something really interesting.
For each friend I refer via facebook/twitter/email (whatever) I get 200 points. I only need to get 2 friends to sign up to the trial and after a couple of weeks i'll have qualified for a £5 gift voucher. Did you know that?0 -

Big difference is if you were in say a "works" syndicate with 48 others paying £1.50 per draw you would have a share in 73 tickets not just 5.
Putting it another way out of your £1.50 only 10p is going on actual tickets!
This is just another version of the site that was closed down a while ago, apart from the massive profit to those behind it the rest of the money goes towards the multi-level-marketing to keep dragging more victims in.0 -

I did a bit of digging around after you said LottoByText was another version of the site that closed down.
MSE actually helped out here
I think the company your refering to was e-lottery which is now bigfatlotteries. They're also based on the Isle of Man (Expected)

This did get me thinking though. But doing a bit more digging, I found that LottoByText have been around since 2005 and are regulated by phonepayplus.0 -

They may be regulated but doesn't change the fact that based on their own figures out of your £1.50 only 10p is going on actual tickets!0 -
Yeh i agree. You are right.
But i supose that's the nature of businesses. When I go down to Primark and buy a jumper I shudder to think how much is profit and how much has gone paying for the jumper
For me, I still get more chances for cheaper and Im happy with that.0 -

When you go to Primark the price you pay is on the label so if it says £1 you pay £1, you don't pay £14.70 but that is effectively what you are doing with this lotto.
If a full syndicate (49 players) wins £100,000 you would only get £2,040
Set up your own syndicate you only need 3 other people all happy to pay £1.50, you can buy 6 lottery tickets and everyone would get 25% of any winnings. So not only do you stand a 20% greater chance of winning you get a 12 times bigger share of any prize.0 -
The Regulator PhonepayPlus have just fined Marketing Craze Limited/LottoByText £250,000 forhttp://www.phonepayplus-services.org.uk/output/search-adjudications.aspx
The Service had a clear and highly detrimental impact, directly or indirectly, on consumers.
• The Service had the sole purpose of generating high revenues and did so through intentional or recklessly misleading promotions.
The Tribunal’s initial assessment was that, overall, the breach was very serious.0 -
Thanks wantmemoney. I didn’t know that. That’s worth knowing.
I don’t know what they’ve been doing but for me my experience has been fine. I always get my winnings on time and when ive spoke on the fone they’ve been helpful.
Had a look on the phonepayplus site and it seems a lot of companies have been fined including Channel 4 and Itv.
Will continue keeping an eye on lottobytext.0
