Washing machine installation

Hi, I'm a complete novice to disconnecting a washing machine but I have to do this tomorrow. I've got some really good, simple instructions to follow so I should be ok. The machine I'm disconnecting, Indesit WD10 has pipes connected to the hot and cold tap, I'm not sure if that means it's a hot fill one or not, and the new machine is definetely a cold fill one. So will I need anything to block the hot tap connection or do they connect pipes to it even if it isn't used? I hope this makes sense.:o Thanks for any help.

Older machines used to have hot and cold fill. New machines tend to just have cold fill and rely on a heating element.
Where the two water pipes, from the washing machine, join the water supply end there should be two valves. Usually have a blue (cold), and red (hot) lever.
They will both need to be turned off before you remove the washing machine.
Simply connect the new washing machine to the cold supply alone and only turn this valve on after fitting.
You can just leave the hot turned off but if you are worried you can get a stop end fitted."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
