I tired to take advantage of the great offer that was advertised on here. Last night i went on to do this but for some reason the site would not take my card details when i went to checkout.
This morning i went back on again. Chose the products i wanted and went to checkout. The checkout price for each product was more expensive than the actual price advertised on the site.
I rang to ask about this and was told they had made an error and only spotted it this morning. But basicly tough nothing i could do.
Do i have any come back on this?
Well done to those who got in early. Each product I had chosen has went up in price by £20-£25

Harty that is rubbish, they have been inundated with orders realised they can make more money so stuck the prices back up this morning.
The site last night showed canvas shoes, jumpers, jackets etc at 50% OFF (they have replaced this with 25 per cent off this morning and some DIMWIT forgot to alter the prices in the descriptions as well, I am sure you and many others were on the phone.
There was NO mistake, the sections themselves had some at 50 per cent last night and some at 25 per cent, the prices on each individual item when you clicked to read the description, see if they had the colour you wanted and size were ALL CORRECT so if it said 50 per cent off when you clicked on the picture, you saw a jumper had been £110, was now £55 and then you buy it and put in your code and get the jumper for £27.50.
I bought a jacket, 3 jumpers and a pair of canvas shoes for my son. I went back this morning to find that it still said 50 per cent off, so went to buy the shoes, they were still showing as £25, when I got to check out they said £12.50, I went back and decided on a jumper and it said on the description £47.50, when I got to check out invoice it said £71.00. This same jacket had 50 per cent off last night and so did the shoes, and I bought the shoes last night, and ended up paying £12.50. I then cancelled the invoice thinking there was a mistake, and then tried again, the shoes then showed up at £37.50, and I realised immediately someone was upping the prices, without changing the decriptions.
I have to say I have just lodged a complaint with them via email. I have screen shots seconds apart from the description page showing the price of £47.50 for the jacket and then I have been and added it to basket got to invoice seconds later to find it is now £71, sorry that is not on,and I believe they were breaking the law, the website updater needs sacking. I decided to test them out so I bought both the shoes and jacket then sent them a very strong email, I know they are breaking the law, the price shown on description page has to be price sold for, so I now have evidence in screen shots minutes apart that show they charged me £71 for something that I had pressed to buy at £47.50.
The person doing the site should have left the prices of each item til LAST, stupid person is all I can say, as they are now not taking any call, and no longer giving out the email address which I got an hour ago when I called to be told no calls being taken, email us.
It was a great deal, and probably still is, but sorry they were breaking the law when I purchased this morning and I intend dealing with it, I don't like greed, and that is what this was, with Martins notification the page here had over 15,000 hits, bet they were not expecting the amount of orders they got, and then thought WOW we can get another 25 per cent out of these people just downsize the offer to 25 per cent off and not 50 per cent off.
And oddly most had 50 per cent off, it was things on accessories that were only 25 per cent and a couple of the Polo shirts and one of the coats, I really should know I spent 3 hours looking at it all, then looked again with my son for his 18th birthday present.
Will let you know what they say, and it had better not be the crap they told you, mistake my left foot! GREED... more like it from the top, someone screamed up the prices FAST Martin Lewis has given us thumbs up and we are going to coin it in now.. disgusted.
Oh and I came in work shouting about this company telling everyone to go on line during lunch and take a look..get a great bargain, what a wonderful company they are etc etc, been made to eat my words. Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0 -
Nothing you can do at all I'm afraid.
A contract is only formed when the goods are despatched.
Before that they can do and say what they like.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

No sorry that is not the case, if you go into Tesco and the item has the price underneath of £10 and when you get to the til they say it is £15 Tesco have to refund the difference, the price is with description, so it is under Trades Descriptions Act. So the description read £47.50 you press to agree to buy at THAT price not the price of £71.00 which it then states on the invoice. Yes you could then just walk away I chose not to as I intend showing this up for what it is, greed when they saw the amount of people buying and extremely bad work practice to alter prices before descriptions which is where they fell foul of the law according to the lawyer I just contacted, with screen shots seconds apart, the email confirming my order, seconds later which is at the higher price than those shown on descriptions, he says it would be a water tight case in court, they have conned me into thinking I was getting something much cheaper. As I said sack the website up dater.. any one with a brain cell in this type of business knows the last thing to be altered is the prices, that was you do not fall foul of the law. Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0

Sorry, that was a bit too rambling to read the whole lot. However your first point about the TDA is just plain wrong. I suggest you google "invitation to treat" or just read Do shops have to sell at the advertised price?.0 -

Thanks vuvizela, I was just about to say the same thing.
I sometimes wonder where people get their ideas from.
£10 on the shelf, the till says £15. You either have to pay the £15 or put it back on the shelf.
Some times the shop will honour it, but that is just goodwill and nothing to do with the law.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Keep me updated. I also emailed them very quickly but failed to take screen shots. I rang a couple of times. The first time i left a voice mail. No return call. The second time i was told yes it was an error. If it was an error how come all the orders placed last night were honoured and the orders this morning got screwed.
The frustrating thing is i believe some people will be caught out as when you see a price you automaticly take it as correct and don't read the itemised breakdown when checking out.
I went and placed the order in the end up but i still hope for a positive outcome0 -
I have to say I think you are right. The way the companies and websites get around it is just what you said. The contract to give you the goods at the price shown only happens at the point they tell you it is dispatched. So it can say whatever it likes on the screen and also you can pay the reduced price even at checkout but until they acknowledge it is to be dispatched to you at the reduced price, they do not have to honour it. I do not agree with this, I have had tonnes of occasions I have bought mis priced goods (Tesco!!) and this is the legislation on it.
There is no such legislation, it is possibly Tesco's policy but it is down to good will.
Show me a link to the legislation and I'll put £10 in the next charity box I see.
Google 'Invitation to Treat' you'll get the answer there.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

But I 100% agree you should see this complaint through and kick up as big a fuss as possible as it isn't fair and hopefully they will honour your order or at least rectify the damage it is doing to their perspective customers
I can pretty much assure you that their 'customers' were only buying because of the big discount and wouldn't do so full price, and if there was another discount, most would go back and try to buy again. L&S know this

I may not have used the correct vocabulary but you knew what I was tryng to say. Yes different companies/websites have different terms and conditions to cover them for mispricing. I don't need that to google anything as I am not having any trouble with a company and mispricing but thanks anyway
The thing is, if you say things like "I do not agree with this, I have had tonnes of occasions I have bought mis priced goods (Tesco!!) and this is the legislation" then you are massively misleading people and should really find out what you're talking about before typing...0 -
This is a common mistake, they DO NOT have to honour mistakes on the website, it is not illegal for them to change the prices.
Also, that is the procedure for TESCO. It is not consumer law. Common misconception!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
