Interesting Archergirl... Did you apply online or in branch? Online they dont ask for your existing account details if you dont want to switch so I wont be moving any DD's

I'm reading their Eligibility Criteria T&C's (link above) as being correct and all it appears I need to do is fund the account with £750 p. month for 3 months. Their use of the word OR in the eligibilty clause is hopefully enough. I'll find out in 3 months!!

EDIT: They do band the words "main account" around as well but quite what that means and how they prove it is unclear.
If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.
If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.

No bonus or loyalty on offer from Lloyds... quite the reverse.

I have been with Lloyds for over 35 years and they have now decided to "reward me" with charging me £12.95 p month for my Gold Current account. Previously, as a long standing customer, I got the benefits like worldwide travel insurance free so long as I keep £2k in the account.

You've had a £12.95 per month account for free for 35 years, sounds like a good deal to me.

Yep!! I did have to keep £2k minimum in there and I got next to no interest.

Those were the good old days when your dad took you down to see his branch manager to open an account and loyalty was rewarded.

Those days have long gone. The computer has taken over the decision making processes of "The Bank Manager". Now a Bank Manager has no authority anymore, sad.

Cash is no longer king is also a factor. Debt is king now and King controls the interest rates which means they dont need savers allegedly

If you're clever and have a property whilst interest rates are low you'd replace as much equity as you can with debt.

Of cause all that could change if interest rates went up :D

Not gone. Returning. We've going full circle.

Days of retailers running banks is over.
